![]() The key is to keep them at a medium range where your dispersion is still manageable, but they can't citadel you. You can even do 30k+ broadsides against German BBs, although these ships are much harder for Alsace to deal with than the others. Broadside Missouri will pay for their ignorance. You can outright delete a Musashi from full HP. This is where Alsace's monstrous alpha strike really shines. After picking off a couple of cruisers, I initiate speed boost and push in to brawl with the enemy battleships (preferably after most of the destroyers are dead). With Alsace, I prefer more of a flanking strategy, as opposed to pushing and tanking like I did with Richelieu. If played properly, this ship will give you monster damage totals. I consider the Richelieu to be one of the weaker tier 8 battleships, but it is still competitive and very fun to play.Īlsace- Someone decided to make the Richelieu viable by putting another turret on the back of the ship. The all forward gun configuration is great for pushing and brawling, and watching your secondaries ignite opposing battleships is a great experience in itself. The frustration of using the guns on this ship was comparable only to Roma, but unlike that ship, Richelieu has many redeeming qualities. The guns are in the cellar of tier 8, however, and make the ship less enjoyable. It is very fast, respectably tanky, and also has good secondaries. Richelieu- This ship is a change in pace from the Lyon. This may not seem like much, but damaging enemy destroyers early on can help pave the way for victory. However, the wild dispersion means that long range potshots against enemy destroyers almost always yield 2-3 hits. The durability of the Lyon is only a slight improvement over Normandie's, hardly enough to make up for the ship being significantly larger and slower. The 16 main battery guns largely make up for these weaknesses, but low individual shell damage, terrible dispersion and poor penetration means that the ship is only truly deadly at close range. Lyon- This is gem of the line for most players, but I was disappointed in its lack of speed and agility compared to the Normandie. Did I mention that it is also difficult to citadel and immune to most HE spam? The only downside to this ship is the poor firing angle of the #3 turret, but this isnt much of a con because Normandie's fantastic agility allows her to swing out, fire, and go back to angling before the enemy battleships even turn their turrets towards you. Flanking may be a way of life at tiers 8-10, but it is a very novel concept at tier 6, and usually the enemy team doesn't know how to react. The speed also allows you to carry much harder than you would be able to in most other battleships, allowing you to solo cap and catch enemies in a crossfire. In the Normandie, you don't have to wait for squishy cruisers to get close enough to delete instead, you can just chase after them and make opportunities instead of waiting for them. That may not seem fast in comparison to the upper tiers, but at tier 6, it makes a world of difference. ![]() It has the same firepower as Fuso and New Mexico, but it goes 29 knots. The guns are also sub-par compared with the other tier 5s, and it doesn't have other advantages to help it compensate. I guess this is why I never liked New York, Texas, or the ARP Kongo. Not necessarily because the ship is bad, but because it always gets matched up against tier 7s. Not Orion or Nikolai, but the guns were an improvement over Turene and the armor scheme was very forgiving.īretange- IMO, this ship is the stinker of the line. Bad guns, good armor, very slow.Ĭourbet- Very good for a tier 4 battleship. Here are my impressions of each ship in the line: I also didn't use any free xp on the line, not even to upgrade modules. Those seem to be the only items I ever get from supercontainers, besides useless modules that I already have. I only started the line about a month ago, and finished it so quickly because of a bottomless supply of camos and Equal Speed Charlie London flags. I have finally reached the Republique, and the French BB grind was very quick and enjoyable for me.
